Answer The United States indicts the Venezuelan president on charges of money laundering and concealment of cryptocurrencies
The US Department of Justice issued a list of charges against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Thursday.
The charges are brought against the Venezuelan president and 14 high-ranking officials for ending a massive government-run drug smuggling operation.
The charges, contained in four separate indictments in four separate courts in Miami and Washington and two in New York, allege that Maduro and his government conspired with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) to bomb the United States with cocaine, devastating American societies.
According to the charges, the Maduro regime also used cryptocurrency to hide profits from their criminal enterprise.

Attorney General William Barr and Acting Executive Director Ottham Dillon and federal prosecutors in Manhattan and Miami announced the charges yesterday at a news conference.
Among the accused are Venezuela’s vice president for economics, defense minister and chief justice.
Federal prosecutors also accuse the Venezuelan vice president of economics, a cryptocurrency manager, and Venezuelan businessmen of committing a series of crimes to evade US sanctions.
The massive operation, according to prosecutors, has allowed Maduro and his top lieutenants to run a drug-terror partnership with the FARC over the past 20 years, corrupting and destroying the regime and plundering Venezuela of billions of dollars.
According to the indictment:
The scope and scale of the alleged drug trafficking was only possible because Maduro and others corrupted Venezuela’s institutions and provided political and military protection for the rampant terrorist crimes described in our accusations.
Maduro and the other accusers openly intended to flood the United States with cocaine in order to undermine the health and well-being of our nation.
Maduro deliberately spread cocaine as a weapon.
While Maduro and other members of the bloc held high titles in Venezuela’s political and military leadership, the behavior described in the indictment was neither judgment nor service to the Venezuelan people.

The defendants betrayed the Venezuelan people and corrupted Venezuelan institutions to line their pockets with drug money.
The indictment also stated:
Today’s announcement focuses on rooting out widespread corruption within the Venezuelan government for a system that has been built and controlled to enrich those at the highest levels of government.
The United States will not allow these corrupt Venezuelan officials to use the American banking system to transfer their illicit proceeds from South America or further their criminal schemes.
Maduro aides have also been accused of money laundering, accused of taking tens of millions of dollars and bribes to illegally fix dozens of civil and criminal cases in Venezuela.
Maduro condemned the accusations on Twitter, saying that as head of state, he was forced to fight and defend peace and stability in Venezuela.
I confirm my complaint! The United States and Colombia conspire and give the order to fill Venezuela with violence. As a head of state, I am obliged to defend the peace and stability of the entire country, in whatever circumstance may arise. They couldn’t and won’t! pic.twitter.com/jpE4c8JzFr

The US State Department is providing up to $15 million for information leading to Maduro’s arrest or conviction, as well as $10 million in rewards and $5 million for information leading to the arrest of two other top officials.
The Trump administration has been trying to remove Maduro from power for more than a year by tightening sanctions and backing opposition leader Juan Guaido.
